Aircraft - Titan 11 using a 912 S 100 hp Rotax engine
Incident report:
Shortly after take off the owner of a 912 Rotax noticed his engine
running rough and then it quit. The pilot made an emergency
landing into a farmers field.
Problem:
Upon inspection of the carburetors it was found that the vent line
from pictured above had touched the hot exhaust pipe and melted
the end of the vent line shut.
This caused the carburetor to stop functioning properly
flooding the engine with fuel, resulting in the engine failure.
Recommendation:
Secure the vent lines so that they cannot touch the exhaust
system.
