Radcam 8 cylinder two stroke radial aircraft engine.
Mark Bierle was at AirVenture 2003 with his Rad Cam engine, which had
recently been used to "put some air between the tires and the ground" on
one of his Gull 2000 ultralight aircraft.
While not yet in production
Mark expects that after a very thorough flight agenda the engine should be
ready to offer to the public in the spring of next year.
For those of you who are not familiar with the RadCam it is an 8
cylinder 2 cycle radial engine which weighs in at 50 lbs but puts out an
outstanding 60 horsepower. The R8600 has a 600 cc displacement, with a
built in intake manifold, pressurized oil system, a collector ring for the
exhaust and an engine cowling are currently under development to give it a
streamlined installation.
