BRS ballistic parachute save
#114/115 |
Though the GT500 had been bought used the owner successfully flew it
for more than 100 hours, a strut failed on the GT500 due to improper
construction by the prior owner. Inspection showed the bolts missed the
bracket holes and only served as a clamp on the strut.
"On
approach to landing, the forward strut detached causing a complete loss
of control. Deployment followed a violent spin and we were still
swinging around as we hit ground. This demonstrates the value of a
ballistic chute and I want to thank everyone at BRS for saving my son's
and my life!"
Result: Pilot and passenger
survived!
